About the Fellowship
Building upon EAVA Artists' established commitment to ethical human rights reporting.
Our Mission
The mission of the Inclusive Narratives Media Fellowship is to empower journalists across the country with skills to investigate, publish and use alternative media to report accurate, impactful and ethical stories that amplify community voices to build informed citizenry to demand for accountability and functional democracies to build a more just and inclusive society.
Since 2020, EAVA Artists has trained over 300 journalists and content creators across Uganda, focusing on improving the coverage of critical issues such as human rights, access to justice, faith inclusion, the cultural impact on marginalized communities, and climate change.
Background
Media freedom is under attack from the custodians themselves, the political alignment of media house owners and the continued self-censorship by editors and limited resources to facilitate journalists with more skills, limits journalists to extensively investigate, report and publish stories on human rights and marginalized communities. This undermines the core principles of journalism: Truth and Accuracy, Independence, Fairness and Impartiality, Humanity and Accountability.
The Inclusive Narratives Media Fellowship focuses on supporting journalists to investigate, publish stories on human rights, marginalized communities, climate change, culture and democracy.

The fellowship aims to achieve the following key objectives:
